Let’s Do This!

Guys, I know it’s easy to despair with this team sometimes especially with the kind of play we’ve been witnessing, but you gotta keep positive.  Last year on this date we were in 4th place and 1 game below .500.  This yr we’re 1.5 games back and 2 above .500.

bon jovi We are on a 4 game skid, but we were not blown out in any of em.  We played without our big bopper in Delgado, without (for the most part) Jose Reyes and with players manning positions theyre not accostomed to.  Not to mention we’ve had Jeremy Reed and Ramon Martinez in the lower part of the lineup.

This weekend undoubtedly wil be tough, but dont fret.  We got our ace going up against a very beatable Dice K, who’s 0-1 with a 12.79 ERA along with a 3.00 WHIP.

In game 2, we have Big Pelf going up against another very beatable Red Sox hurler, Josh Beckett.  Pelfrey has shown something that Ive been very impressed with, and thats composure.  He’s settled down after getting hit and has kept us in games.   Beckett has had a pretty good couple of outings but we’ll see if he can hold it up.

Sunday’s finale will matchup Redding and Wakefield.  A decent matchup that could go either way.  Redding had a very encouraging debut and looks to show he was worth the pickup.  Wakefield has been the definition of consistentcy.  The verteran knucklerballer has been at times masterful.  I hope he’s horrible on Sunday.

waterboy_2Obviously a big issue during the losing streak has been offense.  As mentioned earlier, Jeremy Reed and Ramon Martinez cannot be in this lineup on a daily basis, especially in May.  After watching his team get swept, I highly doubt Jerry will be putting that lineup out again.

Anyway, my fellow neurotic Mets fans, enjoy the long wknd, be safe and as always Let’s Go Mets!

Ok, been playing around with a new site. Let me know what you think.

I wanted to change the name of the domain to reflect the actuall site.  I have been playing around with it for a couple of days.  Please go over to that site and let me know which format you like better.  There are not many differences but I think the comment section is a little neater and it post the time on each comment instead of just the date.

Post game: Dodgers 2, Mets 1

  • The Dodgers completed a three game sweep of the New York Mets defeating them by a score of 2-1.  J.J. Putz (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning on a sharp single to left by Russell Martin that plated Orlando Hudson.
  • Jose Reyes left the game after grounding out to 2nd base in the top of the 3rd inning.  He aggravated his calf injury attempting to beat the throw to 1st.  Ramon Martinez replaced him at SS and leadoff.  After the game, Met manager Jerry Manuel stated that Reyes’s status for the Mets’ next game, Friday at Boston, was uncertain, but that Reyes would travel with the team to Boston and undergo treatment with the Mets’ training staff.
  • Daniel Murphy made his first major league start at 1B, but his surprisingly stellar defense throughout the game was outweighed by his 0-4 with 2 strikeouts and a double play at the plate.  Murphy left 7 men on base.
  • Met starter Livan Hernandez pitched well, allowing only 1 run on an Andre Ethier sacrifice fly in the first inning, and overall 7 hits and 1 BB in 7 innings pitched, with 2 K.
  • The Mets have now lost 4 consecutive games after starting this road trip 3-0.
  • The Dodgers are 17-3 at home so far this season.
  • It was Casey Blake bobble-head night, and the Dodger third baseman and number 8 hitter thrilled his many fans by singling and walking in 3 plate appearances.
  • Fake President Dennis Haysbert, and pseudo-celebrities Arsenio Hall and Jon Lovitz were seen in the crowd. 000005-dennis_haysbert.jpg
  • cplovitzj-crop.jpgarseniohall.jpg
  • Actor Matthew McConaughey threw out the ceremonial first pitch, but I did not see it so I cannot say whether it or he was high.matthew_mcconaughey-1-we_are_marshall.jpg
  • The probable starters for the Mets’ next game are Johan Santana (5-2, 1.36) and the expected to be activated from the disabled list Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1, 12.79).
  • Box score courtesy of Yahoo.com
  • I would love to have left spaces between each bullet point, but I am too dumb and tired to figure out how.  Good night!

Should it be NLEastChatter.com?

NL East Chatter

NL East Chatter

So, I do think were mainly on board with the new NL East Chatter site, http://www.nleastchatter.com would be the address.  Being I think we now have a split group at the temporary forum and here on the Real Dirty Met’s Blog, I wanted to cover as much ground as possible.

I do believe by first thing tomorrow AM, I will go ahead and register the domain and begin working on things over there.  We will need help, specifically:

  • People to make more images, like the one above given by BobbyV2010, which is awesome
  • Possibly web developers, since that will only make the site better
  • Fans of rival teams, in the NL East to blog and chat here on the site, without being angry and destructive about the other teams in the division
  • Administrators for the forum site
  • FANS! MANY OF THEM!
  • Great insight, see above.

Anyway, with all these things, we should be very successful.  But if anyone has a problem with the name above, speak now, or forever hold your peace.  Remember, we want this to be about all of us fans, so I want to give equal opportunity here.
